About Nina

Hello everybody and thank you for stopping by Health + Beauty Lifestyle, a place where diet, nutrition and a healthy lifestyle is truly the heartbeat of the website. I am extremely passionate about how eating the right foods can literally be life-changing. We were raised to think that there is a pill for everything, there was little to no thought given how we actually fueled our body by what we ate, drank or the products we used. Well, “The Times They Are A-Changin” and a growing number of us couldn’t be more excited to share and spread the good news!

Diet and nutrition have always been a big part of my lifestyle. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had to be creative with the way I eat. Being allergic to dairy since I was born, I’ve either had to go without or find a worthy substitute…..and let me tell you, back in the day, a worthy substitute was not an easy find. At seventeen, I decided to cut out all meat except fish, surprisingly easy to do and decades later I am still very happy with my choice. Fast forward to about seven years ago where I spent a very painful year until the doctors figured out I have a gluten sensitivity, not Celiac thank God, but a sensitivity nonetheless. I even scaled back my fish intake to the point where I eventually nixed it out of my diet completely. I do not miss it and I am very happy to be 100% meat free! So to recap, no dairy, no meat, no fish and no gluten….and somehow, I can still make any restaurant menu work. A fact I am pretty proud of, and yet, surprisingly still puzzles people.

People always ask, ‘what DO you eat?’ It used to be frustrating, now I use it as an opportunity to share a little information I’ve learned over the years. Definitely not in the way some vegans out there shame people for their choices, instead I offer a few dietary changes that I’ve made and that I’ve helped my parents make so they can research for themselves to decide what’s best for them. In my parents’ case, my mother suffered a stroke and was told by her heart doctor that her diet needed to change and that she should “eat more like your daughter”. With that kind of wake up call, both my parents were on board to rethinking their diets and open to trying new things. I made them a cookbook with few delicious easy to follow, low sodium recipes that they were surprised how much they really liked. I had so much fun during the whole process, I knew it was what I wanted to do but on a much bigger level. My mom is still recovering, it’s a slow process, but she tries to stay positive and is making the right choices for a healthier lifestyle.

That “Ah ha” moment when people realize they don’t completely have to do a 180 to see and feel the difference a few little lifestyle changes can make is what motivates me to devour as much information as I can to share.

It’s easy to fall into habits and routines because that’s how we were raised or how we were taught to do things. Honestly, “We’ve always done it this way” is the worst combination of words….in any language. I get it, habits and routines are hard to break. But simply changing the way we shop for groceries or the quick minute decision to take the stairs instead of the escalator or elevator soon become new habits, habits that once you start to see and more importantly feel the difference, you want more of in your life.

The goal of Health Beauty Lifestyle is simple, to have a healthy active lifestyle regardless of our age. To know that we can preserve thy self from the inside out by making smart well informed choices. I’d like to encourage more active Fitcations instead of Vacations, to travel more and sit and watch TV and the world go by less. There is no time for “Empty Nest” syndrome and no better time than RIGHT NOW to do and see all the things you’ve always wanted and dreamed of. Go. Laugh. Live.

If you have any questions or just want to share an “Ah ha” moment, feel free to leave me a message below. I would love to hear your story or help in any way I can.

All the best,
